Accession records, 1952-1992.

Accession master lists, accession number assignment logs, and completed accession forms recording library, museum, sites, and manuscripts (private papers) acquisitions from donors. Created originally by the Office of Field Services (later a division), the collecting arm of the Society, the records diminish in completeness as the various collecting programs within the Society assumed responsibility for this function and the associated record keeping. In 1982, the Archives Division absorbed Field Services and subsequently that staff's collecting and accessioning focused entirely on manuscripts. By 1992, procedures and record keeping practices changed significantly, and this series was discontinued.
